Goalkeeping Coaching Clinic |
|
David
Coles, one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the world will be doing a
two day goalkeeping coaching development clinic in Belfast on the 24th
and 25th May 2008. The two day event will be useful for
goalkeeping coaches to see how David goes about setting up coaching
sessions and developing young goalkeepers from the ages of 9 to 16.
David will be also working with Irish league goalkeepers on the second
day.
David is the
current goalkeeping coach at Portsmouth Football Club and works with
England’s number 1 goalkeeper David James. He was also the goalkeeping
coach at Southampton Football Club where he worked with Antti Niemi.
The coaching
will take place at the DUB playing fields, Belfast. The cost will be £75
that includes lunch on both days. This is the first time that a
goalkeeping coaching development event like this has been set up in
Northern Ireland.
I hope that I
can get your support to make this event a success, so we can go on and
build from this to supply the demanding coaching needs of our
goalkeepers and coaches.
If you are
interested in attending the 2 days please drop me an e-mail at
Alan@nigoalkeeping.com or contact me on mobile number 07799867762 or
contact the IFA coaching department on 02890669458 for more details.
I will need your
Name, Age Address, Club and contact details and state if you are a coach
or a goalkeeper. There will be a limited number of places on this course
so don’t delay.

|
|
Crewe
United have begun the search for a new manager after Keith McCorry

any prospective candidates, “Its exciting times with the implementation
of the new intermediate standards within local football and there is a
great opportunity for teams such as ourselves seeking to climb the ranks
if we can build a successful team. We hope to appoint a manager who can
take the football club forward and give us the success which will help
achieve the clubs vast potential. Crewe have a great tradition and for
any manager with ambition to progress it would be a challenge but a
fantastic opportunity”.

will provide coaching opportunities for those involved and help support
new members in attaining UEFA Coaching Badges.
Youth
team co-ordinator Chris Kemp hopes to get more local kids involved in
football in their local area. “We hope to have youth teams at all levels
next season and provide a professional but fun environment to play
football in. We have a great base to work from at Crewe and we hope to
encourage more youngsters to participate in football as we develop our
youth teams. We do however need more people to run the teams and the
club are willing to support those interested in whatever way they can
which hopefully will attract people to become involved”.

is in aid of the worthy charity of Chest, Heart and Stroke, and over the
past 8 years has raised a commendable figure of £24,500! The Laurelvale
committee has put together a match day programme, and are currently
selling tickets for a raffle which will be drawn in Laurelvale Cricket
Club at 1pm. Light refreshments and a buffet will be served, so if you
need a good laugh, come along and support this worthy cause.

16th December 2007: Lurgan welcome Jonny to Town |
|
Lurgan
Town are delighted to announce the addidition of Johnny McKInstry to the
coaching staff. Johnny will replace Mark Rimmington as Assistant Manager
when he leaves for for work purposes in February. The Lisburn man has
made quite an impact already in his short period with the club and the
players have responded well to his training methods. Johnny is an A
Licensed Coach and is working with the New York Red Bulls as an Academy
coach and has previously worked with the youth setups at Newcastle
United and Distillery. First team manager Neil Adair is delighted to
have him on board, 'It's a real coup for the club to be able to get
Johnny in at this stage of the season. I had no doubts he'd be an
addition to the coaching staff and I haven't been disappointed.'
Adair went on, 'Johnny and Rimmy will look after most of the
training sessions and that will leave me free to work individually with
players, where as before we couldn't have done that.' Johnny
certainly enjoyed his first match day involvement, a 3-1 victory at
Hanover. Here's hoping his good run continues. |

13th December 2007: Ambassadors invite you to join
their summer Senegal Tour |
|
The Ambassadors are running another
Senegal Tour this summer which will be open to anyone from any club
within Mid Ulster Football. The idea is to
use the contacts we have in Senegal and Guinea Bissau to offer guys
here an opportunity to play in Africa, experience African culture and
also get to help local football projects. |
|
|
|
|
 |
Ambassadors FC obviously has a Christian ethos, but this tour is
open to anyone regardless of faith. It is just an opportunity to
spend 2 weeks in Africa playing against some decent teams on very
tough sandy pitches with a bunch of others from the various leagues.
We will be sending out flyers to most
teams in the New Year but just thought it might be good to get the
word out there so people can think about it.
The tour will involve 7 or 8 matches,
coaching local kids (no coaching experience is needed as we will do
training before we go), a day in a traditional village and much
more. We will be hosted by Casa Sport (a Premier League team in
Senegal and then will travel to Guinea Bissau for a few days
building on links we have with the Guinea Bissau Football
Federation. There will also be a 2 day stay at a hotel in the Gambia
on the way home.
If you are interested or would like any more
information then please let me know.

6th December 2007:
Banbridge Rangers on the look out for a new manager |
|
Banbridge Rangers are currently without a manager and
are actively seeking applicants for the role of manager/coach. See their
club statement below:
After two and a half
seasons as Banbridge Rangers manager Geoff Noble accepted the decision
of the commitee to step down from his role last week. Geoff leaves a
team which he guided to the Mid Ulster Division 4 title last year but
will remain very much a club member and all at the club wish to express
their thanks for the job he has done from the team was formed.
The club are therefore now without a manager and invitations are being
invited for a new Manager/Coach to work with and lead a squad to new
levels. Applicants should have sound football knowledge and have worked
or coached with teams in the past as it is the clubs vision to ascertain
Intermediate football in the not so distant future. All applications are
welcome and are asked to phone chairman Stuart Magill on 07877821973 for
further details. If you wish you can private message
myself ( Richard McMinn ) through the usual procedure and if you leave
name and contact details a club representative will contact you as early
as possible.
Yours in Sport

22th September 2007: Saturday
17th November Statement |
|
As you will by now no doubt be aware, Northern Ireland
will play Denmark on Saturday November 17th in a Euro 2008 qualifying
fixture. This match will Kick -Off at 7.45pm. After discussion with the
League Chairman, it has been agreed that Clubs shall have the
opportunity to request a free day on November 17th, in line with our
policy of "Celebration Days". |
| |
|
Applications for a free day should be made in writing on
or before October 27th 2007. After this date, all fixtures allocated
must be played in accordance with League Rules. Please note that
applications must be from an accredited Club Official and should be
either via Royal Mail or Email. Website postings requesting a free day
CANNOT be accepted as these can be either overlooked or deleted
accidentally. |
| |
|
For those Clubs wishing to play, matches will kick-off no
later than 2.00pm, but Clubs may commence matches earlier if all parties
are in agreement. It would be the League's intention to ensure that,
wherever possible, all matches allocated should be kept reasonably
local. |
| |
|
Please remember that you cannot request a free day for
your Clubs 1st team whilst allowing a Reserve fixture to go ahead. |
| |
|
Any Club who accepts the offer of a free day should note
that it will not affect your entitlement to a Free Saturday in
accordance with League Rule 11a, unless your entitlement has already
been exercised. |

|
2nd August 2007: Mid Ulster League All Change |
|
1.
Intermediate Football |
|
This season sees the first part of a two year phase of
the re-structuring of the League. This is brought about by changes
imposed upon us by both UEFA and the Irish Football Association. |
| |
|
This season, all Intermediate Clubs are required to
centrally register all their players with the IFA. For Clubs with First
teams in the Irish League, this can be done directly through Belfast,
but for Clubs outside the Irish League, it must be done through each
League’s Registration Secretary. Central Registration means that Clubs
with First Teams in the Irish League can no longer have Reserve Teams in
our League under a slightly altered name because Players can only sign
for one Intermediate Club. This has meant that two Clubs, originally
placed in our Intermediate Section when the Management Committee sat in
early July to formulate the Divisions, have been forced to revert to
Junior Football to accommodate Central Registration. |
| |
|
Originally, when the Committee sat, we had anticipated
two Intermediate Divisions of 14 teams. However, the Central
Registration issue and the sad demise of Mountnorris meant 2 imbalanced
Divisions of 14 in the A division and 11 in the B section. Reluctantly,
at short notice this had to be rectified in order that the B Section
would not be completing fixtures too early in the season. |
| |
|
During the course of this season, the Inspectorate of the
IFA Intermediate Committee will be assessing all Grounds throughout the
Province who currently host Intermediate Football to ascertain whether
or not the Grounds meet the new minimum Intermediate criteria. For those
Clubs, currently playing at Intermediate level whose Grounds fail the
inspection it will mean either a completion of the work required to
bring the ground up to standard or a reversion to Junior Football for
the start of season 2008/09. |
| |
|
2.
Junior Football |
|
As stated above, two Clubs were required to join the
Junior Section from Intermediate football for the reasons outlined. A
one –season arrangement has meant that these teams have been placed in
an extended Division 1. The late demise of Derriaghy Village means that
Division 2 will again be running with only 13 teams from the outset. |
| |
|
It seems certain that some Clubs, currently playing at
Intermediate level , will be forced to revert to Junior level for the
commencement of season 2008/09. In order to facilitate a place in Junior
Football for those Clubs, the Management Committee are seriously
considering the introduction of a new “Premier” Junior Division for the
start of 08/09. Initially, the Committee will place all teams who are
forced back to Junior level from Intermediate Football in this Division.
It is anticipated that this Division will consist of between 12-14 teams
and should the number of teams reverting to Junior from Intermediate be
insufficient to make up this number, the Management Committee will give
consideration to making up the number of teams in the “Premier “
Division from the top echelon of Clubs playing this season in Division
1, or possibly from any new external applicants deemed worthy of a place
at this level. Clubs reverting to Junior level from Intermediate
football whose facilities regain Intermediate status at any subsequent
time and current Junior Clubs who attain Intermediate status for the
first time will be invited to join or rejoin the Intermediate section at
the first available opportunity pending written application and a short
interview. Because of the uncertain nature of this, the Committee cannot
guarantee at this time, promotion to a higher Division for any Clubs
finishing in either Winners or Runners –up places at the end of this
current season. The Committee have briefly considered expanding the
Junior section to 5 Divisions of 14 Clubs to commence for season 08/09.
This will depend on prevailing circumstances and the quality of any new
applicants. It is further anticipated that central registration for
Junior teams will commence in season 08/09. |
| |
|
3.
Reserve Football |
|
It is not anticipated at this time that the Reserve
section will be unduly affected by the changes outlined above. This
season the 3 Divisions have been increased to 14 teams each and the
O’Hara Cup will now be a straight Knock- out competition. The Mid Ulster
League Cup will also be retained as a consolation competition for all
those teams who lose their first match in the O’Hara Cup – thus
guaranteeing all teams at least 2 Knock-out fixtures. |
|
|
| |
|
22nd July 2007: Transfer Rules |
|
With the introduction of the new system of Central Registration for all
players attached to Intermediate Clubs, I would just like to clarify
certain aspects that will affect all Clubs for this season.
|
| |
|
1. No
Player can register for more than one Intermediate Club. |
| |
|
2. Players are permitted to register for an Intermediate
Club and a Junior Club providing that the 2 Clubs involved are not both
members of the Mid Ulster Football League. For example:- A player can
sign for Nortel and Hill Street as they are Intermediate and Junior
Clubs in different Leagues, but cannot sign for Blackers Mill and Hill
Street as they are both members of the Mid Ulster League. (It should be
noted that each League is allowed their own Rules regarding registering
of Players at Intermediate and Junior level within their own League.) |
| |
|
3. All transfers between Mid Ulster League Clubs must be
actioned through the Gen Sec in the normal manner together with the
Administration fee. |
| |
|
4. If an Intermediate Club wishes to transfer a player
from a Junior team within our Domestic League, the Club concerned must
fill out and forward a MUFL transfer form to the Gen Sec AND centrally
register the player in the normal manner. |
| |
|
5. If a Junior Club wishes to transfer a player from an
Intermediate Club then the Club must fill out and forward an MUFL
transfer form to the Gen Sec and the Intermediate Club must then cancel
the central registration of the player through the MUFL Central
registration Secretary. |
| |
|
6.
Transfers between Junior Clubs are unaffected and can be actioned in the
usual manner. |
| |
|
7. Centrally registered players transferring into this
League from other Intermediate Leagues must be actioned through the Gen
Sec together with the administration fee. |
| |
| 8.
Centrally registered players transferring out of this league and Player
Loans are NOT subject to any administration fee. |
| |
| 9.
Player loans are only available for Intermediate Clubs at this stage. |
